Medication is a useful tool for some people with Attention Deficit Disorder. Medication is only a part of what is called Life Management. Life Management includes learned social skills, jobs that use the ADDers strenghs, use of a support group and or an ADD coach.
Social skills are pretty important in dealing with any situation in life. The Adder especially needs then because they need the support of people more than normal people. Also having good people skills helps the adder concentrate on strenghs rather than weaknesses.
A job that plays to the ADDErs strenghs is ultimately crucial for their survival. Someone with ADD tends to get bored easily so something that isn't rote and mecanical would probably be helpful.Someone with add should try to figure out what they are good and look for jobs that use those skills.
Either a support group or and ADD coach can be an invaluable resource. An ADD patient needs to be guided not to some new place but back to were they have strayed off course. This takes love and compassion from their family but also people who might have add or treat should be used to give a positive perspective.
